Rangers Depth Chart
The Major League depth chart is comprised of players expected to be on the Major League roster. I will update this chart throughout the season. The Minor League depth chart is based on Baseball America’s rankings of Rangers prospects, and will not be updated until next season.
The Major League rankings are based on my own judgement of where the players stand. Position players and relievers are ranked by expected roles and usage. Starting pitchers are ranked by how I expect them to perform this season. For instance, while Colby Lewis will be the team’s opening day starter, I only expect him to be the fifth best starter on the team. Also, I expect Alexi Ogando to be the most effective reliever in the bullpen, but he is ranked behind Closer Joe Nathan. Non-roster invites such as Conor Jackson and Brad Hawpe are excluded.
I don’t pretend to know the farm system better than the experts. My opinions of prospects are essentially shaped by what I read from scouting reports, so I’ll defer to the actual scouts, and hold back judgements on my own.
