Jose Canseco’s Dreams Come True

Remember when professional athletes’ dreams could include Hall of Fame aspirations, driving Ferraris, and dating a young Madonna? Forget them. According to several reports and Twitter, Jose Canseco’s new dream come true was realized this weekend when he signed a contract to play for the Quintana Roo Tigers of the Mexican League.

Following yesterday’s Canseco tweet that read, “Back in baseball I knew I would play this year you just gotta believe in your dreams”, the former Ranger followed with a slightly more depressing justification. “Leave on redeye tonite to start spring training with AAA quintana roo tigers tomorrow. Team won league championship last year.”

Quintana Roo won the Mexican League championship last year, and Canseco has a chance to help them repeat. Yes, dreams come true.

Josh Lewin to Join Mets Radio Team

Chalk one win up for the Mets management team. Bob Klapisch tweeted today that the Mets are preparing to announce a one year deal with Josh Lewin. Lewin would replace Wayne Hagin as the primary radio play-by-play announcer.

I was sad to see the Rangers part ways with Lewin in 2010, but given the team’s recent broadcasting moves, there was clearly no way they were going to bring him back. Anyway, I wish Josh luck, and I’m sure his new organization and fans will give him the appreciation he deserves.

Madonna, A-Rod, and The Centaur

A-Rod the Mystical Centaur

America’s punishment for the infamous Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction will continue tomorrow when Madonna takes the stage for the Super Bowl halftime show. While Madonna’s relevance in the last decade is largely tied to her public divorce with director Guy Ritchie, temporary British accent, and relationship with Alex Rodriguez, there are questions sports fans want answered.

She seemed taken aback when asked about what concerns sports fans the most at a recent press conference – does A-Rod really have an oil painting of himself portrayed as a centaur? Actress and Rodriguez-ex Kate Hudson first made the claim while discussing his vanity following their 2009 break up. While Madonna neither confirmed nor denied the allegations, she did claim that A-Rod has a painting of her laying on a horse. Still, I’m more inclined to believe that the only painting in the Rodriguez household involving a horse has a mystical component, and that A-Rod’s ego is greater than Hudson’s creativity.

Here is the footage from the press conference:
